Photo Bill of Rights Salon

On July 20, 2020, eight co-authors of the Photo Bill of Rights — Akili Ramsess (NPPA), Andrea Wise (Diversify Photo), Caitlin O’Hara (Juntos), Daniella Zalcman (Women Photograph), Jai Lennard (Color Positive), Josue Rivas (Natives Photograph), Jovelle Tamayo (Authority Collective), Peter DiCampo (Everyday Projects), and Kainaz Amaria — got together for a discussion of the Photo Bill of Rights: its conception, construction, content, and also some of the criticism. Watch the full conversation here.

Photography, History, and Systems of Power

On Sept. 25, 2020, Photo Bill of Rights co-author, Laura Saunders, facilitated a conversation looking back at the origins of photography — how it has been used as a tool of colonialism, and how this legacy still appears today, both culturally and institutionally.

Saunders spoke with John Edwin Mason, Will Wilson, and Sama Alshaibi, who use their work to examine visual culture by reckoning with systems of power and representation in the medium’s history.
